Instructions

  1. 1

Check the batteries. The toy takes four AA batteries, and due to the nature of the toy, uses these up quickly. Make sure the batteries in the pad are of good quality and that there is no corrosion at either end of the connections in the battery compartment. Sometimes pushing the batteries in a little more firmly may help resolve the problem.

  2. 2

Remove the cartridge form the machine and wipe the end that inserts into the leap pad. Blowing on this end will free the cartridge of any dust. Reinsert the cartridge and turn on the leap pad.

  3. 3

Replace the pen. Pad pens can't be fixed, but that can be replaced with new ones. Locate the hatch at the back of the pad and remove the two screws that hold it in place. Make a note of how the jack that is attached to the pen sits inside the body of the pad.

  4. 4

Remove the old pen and discard it. Attach the jack of the new pen into the opening and close the cover.
