The Black Ink Won't Work in the Canon Pixma MP130

The Canon Pixma MP130 uses inkjet printer technology to produce images and text on the page. The printer houses both black and colour ink cartridges, which contain liquid ink. The ink sprays onto the page through tiny nozzles located in the print head, which sits below each ink cartridge. If the printer will not print black at all, it is likely due to a problem with either the black ink cartridge or the print head assembly.

Instructions

  1. 1

Turn on the printer and check the display screen. If the screen says "Black Ink Low," replace the black ink cartridge.

  2. 2

Open the top and front covers to completely expose the print cartridges if you see no low ink message.

  3. 3

Lift the black ink cartridge out of its slot, and then reinsert the cartridge so it clicks into place. Try to print with the black ink cartridge again.

  1. 1

Press the "Copy" button on the printer's control panel, and then press "Menu" until you select "User Data."

  2. 2

Press the arrow buttons to highlight "Maintenance," and then press "OK." Press the arrow buttons to select "Cleaning" and press "OK."

  3. 3

Wait as the printer performs the print head cleaning. If the black ink cartridge will still not print, take the printer to a repair shop.
