How to Access My MSN Account
Access MSN e-mail with any version of Microsoft Outlook. (e-mail image by Ewe Degiampietro from Fotolia.com)

MSN accounts created earlier than version 5.3 use Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) e-mail access, which means e-mails are retrieved from a remote server and stored on a local computer through an interface e-mail program such as Microsoft Outlook. Newer MSN accounts use HTTP e-mail, or web-based e-mail, that allows you to log in and retrieve e-mail from any computer with Internet access. While you can also use an e-mail program to access HTTP e-mail, setting up access to your MSN e-mail account is slightly different.
