Send an SMS text message from the convenience of your Gmail account using Google Talk, an instant messaging application. This feature is built directly into Gmail; however, it is experimental and must be enabled from the Google Labs section of your Gmail settings. Once Google Talk is enabled, you can send text messages to contacts in your address book or to standalone phone numbers in just a few moments.
