Yahoo Messenger is a type of instant messaging software. While you can use Yahoo Messenger to send messages or check your e-mail, you can also post status updates for your contacts to see. For example, you may post a status update when you get home from work or are away from your desk. If you want to remove your status message so others on Yahoo Messenger will not see the message, it takes little time to do so.

Tips and warnings
- You cannot manually delete all of your old status messages and according to Yahoo, the 9 recently used status messages are stored. With each new status message created, the oldest is removed. If there is a status message you don't want someone who has access to your Messenger to see, simply enter a new status message until the old status message disappears from your list of status messages.
