The Microsoft Xbox 360 has a built-in DVD player. This device is capable of playing most DVD content, including discs created on a computer. If you have video content you want to play on the Microsoft Xbox 360 stored on your system, it's possible to burn the content with any DVD burning program. If you have a DVD burner on your computer, you already have a DVD burning program installed.

Instructions

  1. 1

Launch the Nero DVD burning software (see download link in the Resource section). This is a Windows-based DVD burning program. Choose "Video DVD" then insert the blank DVD into your computer's DVD burner. Choose "Add Files" and select the video file you want to load onto the DVD. Title the DVD at the top of the screen, then choose "Burn" and the Nero DVD burning software writes the video onto the blank DVD.

  2. 2

Launch Toast (see download link in the Resource section). This software works both on Windows and Mac-based systems. Choose "Video DVD," then click "Add Files" and select the video files you want to play on the Xbox 360. Insert the blank DVD into the computer's DVD burner. Select the layout format from the right side of the program screen and click "Burn." Toast now writes the video onto the blank DVD.

  3. 3

Launch iDVD. This software comes pre-installed on all Mac-based computers. Click the layout you want on the right side of the screen, then select the disc layout option located at the bottom of the program. Click-and-drag the desired video file onto the DVD. Insert the blank disc into the DVD drive. Close all autoplay windows that load onto the screen. Choose "Burn" and iDVD writes the video content to the disc.

  4. 4

Eject the finished DVD from the DVD burner and insert it into the Microsoft Xbox 360's disc drive. The video content now loads and begins to play on the connected screen.
