How to make chairs non-slip on hardwood flooring

Glossy hardwood floors are coveted by many homeowners, but the downside to such flooring is its slippery nature. Prevent chairs from slipping across hardwood floors by attaching small pieces of non-slip mats to the feet of chairs.

  • Rubber non-slip mat
  • Pen
  • Utility knife
  • Newspaper
  • Super-glue

Instructions

  1. 1

    Place the leg of a chair on top of a rubber non-slip mat. Use a pen to trace the shape of the foot of the chair leg onto the mat. Repeat for each leg of the chair.

    Lay the non-slip mat over a piece of plywood. Use the tip of a utility knife to cut out each of the shapes from the non-slip mat.

    Lay a sheet of newspaper on the floor. Place the chair on top of the newspaper. Apply a thin layer of superglue to the face of the non-slip pieces and place on the bottom of each chair leg. Repeat for each chair leg. Allow to dry for 2 hours or according to the glue manufacturer’s recommendations.
