Windows XP Dark Edition is an operating system (OS) designed with the same codes as Windows XP, only the programmers added additional coding and themes so the background is dark and all the features are black or dark blue. Because the operating system is created by third-party individuals, the OS is free to download, and you do not need an access code to install the programming.

Instructions

  1. 1

Open your Internet browser and navigate to the XP Dark Edition download page (link provided in Resources).

  2. 2

Click "XP Dark Edition (High Speed)" and the OS downloads to your computer.

  3. 3

Back up any information you want to save now, because when you install the Dark Edition, you run the risk of losing all saved data currently on the hard drive.

  4. 4

Double-click the downloaded file; the Windows XP Dark Edition installation wizard appears on the screen.

  5. 5

Follow the series of prompts and choose "Install" to install the OS. Once completed, the computer restarts, and upon booting the operating system backup, the new Windows XP Dark Edition is now running.
