Care Bears were created in 1981 by American Greetings. Since then, Care Bears have been on TV, in movies, and on school backpacks, lunch boxes and much more. Each Care Bear has a picture on its belly that corresponds with its name. Children may identify with a certain Care Bear and then want to be that Care Bear for Halloween. If you don't want to spend a fortune on purchasing a Care Bear costume, you can make one yourself.
- Skill level:
Things you need
- Image of a Care Bear
- Fleece clothing
- White dish towel
- Permanent markers
- Hot glue gun
- Bear ears headband
- Spray paint
Choose which Care Bear you want to be. You can view an image of some Care Bears in the resource section of this article if you are not sure what the Care Bears look like.
Shop for a fleece pair of pyjamas, or a fleece top and matching bottom. You want to purchase the fleece in the same colour as the Care Bear you want to be for Halloween. For example, if you wanted to be Bedtime Bear, you would need blue fleece. If you wanted to be Good Luck Bear, you'd need green fleece.
Cut a circle out of a white dish towel. You want the circle to cover the stomach area of either your shirt or pyjamas. The size of the circle depends on the size of clothing you bought.
Draw the symbol of the Care Bear you want to be on the white circle you just made. There are plenty of coloured permanent markers you can use to do this.
Use a hot glue gun to attach the white circle to the stomach of the shirt or pyjamas.
Purchase a headband with a set of bear ears on it (these are available at party stores and Halloween stores). You can spray paint the ears to match the colour of your Care Bear.
