How to Disassemble a Dyson DC15 Vacuum Cleaner

The Dyson DC15 can be disassembled and reassembled as needed. The DC15's design allows even the novice vacuum cleaner mechanic to maintain the machine at home. Doing so saves the time and money associated with dispatching the vacuum to a professional technician. By disassembling the Dyson DC15, you can undo blockages and clean various parts as needed. Always unplug the vacuum before working on it.

Press the wand release button at the base of the wand handle, and separate the wand and hose from the vacuum.

Raise the end of the wand from the hose until it clicks into place.

Squeeze the two buttons on the side of the wand handle, and separate the upper end of the hose from the wand and wand handle.

Rotate the base of the hose away from the vacuum. Twist the base to remove the hose from the vacuum.

Press the catch at the top of the cyclone and bin handle, and separate the cyclone and bin from the vacuum base. To access the filter, lift the catch on the filter lid on the head of the cyclone.

Lay the Dyson DC15 carefully on its backside, exposing the brush bar and cover plate.

Using a coin, twist each of the coloured soleplate fasteners to the left. Gently pull the soleplate away from the underside of the vacuum.

Rotate the brush bar end caps away from the vacuum. Pull the two brush bar sections away from one another, and remove the brush bar from the vacuum.
