For many big time golf enthusiasts, the sport is their life. If they're not playing golf they're gathering to watch an important match on TV. If you and your friends fall into this category, then major tournaments like the Masters or the PGA Championship offer you a chance to celebrate the game–and to decorate your home with this theme in mind.

Look for a table cloth that features a golf theme. There are several options. If you want subtlety, look for a cloth the colour of grass to simulate the playing greens. If the intent is to be more obvious, find a table cloth that golf ball illustrations and scenes of people playing golf or words associated with the sport.
Add a long table runner. For example, a gold table runner on a green table cloth would look sharp and feature the colours of the Masters golf match. Place it on top of the table cloth, down the middle of the table.
Locate silverware featuring golf motifs. You can find these at speciality stores–the handles will either feature a carved golf ball or will be shaped like a golf club.
Find plates and cups with golf photos on them. Party supply stores often carry these items. If not, hunt around garage sales.
Buy napkins and napkin rings. If you’ve chosen a plain green table cloth, you can either add green napkins or search for a more specific golf-themed napkins. Search Online for speciality napkin rings that feature golf insignias.
Make some place cards for the table. You can use a design program to create a golf graphic–write each guest's name on the card.
Design or buy a centrepiece for your table. Most flower shops offer a number of decorative themes including the sport of golf. To make one yourself, however, buy a shallow metal tub and fill it with sand. Place a few golf ball candles in the sand. Make a decorative sign that indicates this is the sand trap.
Tips and warnings
- If you can’t find a golf-themed table cloth, you can make one. Buy a plain table cloth and add iron-ons or decorate using T-shirt paints or tri-chem.
- If you opt for the sand trap centrepiece, you may want to place a few large placemats under it. Both the sand and the tub itself could damage your table.
