Your Dyson DC07 vacuum cleaner comes with a reusable filter. This filter requires a light cleaning at least once every six months to keep it working effectively. According to the Dyson DC07 manual, you may have to clean it more often if you use your vacuum heavily. The filter cleaning and drying process can take up to 24 hours, so make sure you don't need your vacuum until it's finished.

Instructions

  1. 1

Turn your Dyson's power off and unplug its power cord.

  2. 2

Press the release lever on the dirt canister to remove it from the vacuum. Place it to the side. Lift the filter tray to remove it from the Dyson. Be sure to grab the yellow filter tray--the blue tray holds a filter that does not require cleaning.

  3. 3

Twist the yellow filter tray to open it. Pull the filter out of the tray. Bring the filter to your kitchen sink.

  4. 4

Run the filter under cold water for several minutes, until the water runs clear. Work the filter gently with your hands to accelerate the cleaning process. Do not apply any soap or detergent to the filter. Gently squeeze the filter to release excess water when it is clean.

  5. 5

Place the filter in a warm area, such as in a window sill. Check the filter after 12 hours to see if it's dry. The drying process may take up to 24 hours. Reinsert the filter into its tray and reinsert it into your Dyson when it has finished drying.

Tips and warnings

  • Do not attempt to wash the filter in a clothes washing machine.
