Use your summary to highlight the graphic design accomplishments and qualifications you feel would be most important to prospective employers. You can draw attention to these accomplishments with specific details that describe your experience, knowledge or uncommon attention to detail.

  2. 2

Draw attention to your technical proficiency by listing platform experience in Microsoft Windows or Apple Mac OS 10. Create a software expertise list including all software that you are skilled in using, such as Adobe Photoshop, Quark Xpress, Dreamweaver or Flash.

  3. 3

Include additional training or schooling you've received in graphic design, as well as any credentials you've earned in the subject. List every educational experience related to graphic design by writing down the name of the university or school, dates of attendance and type of degrees earned. Include degree major and minor specs, as well as specific coursework information, even if it is not related to the position.

  4. 4

Tailor your professional experience information to include a detailed employment history, starting with your current employer. Include employer names, job titles, employment dates and specific descriptions of the job-related duties most applicable to the field of graphic design or specific to the position you are applying for, such as company branding campaigns or the development of advertising campaigns.

  5. 5

Write down any experience you have with HTML, web design or photography correction. An employer may need a graphic designer who can not only create advertisements, but who can also color correct the photography used within the ads and update the HTML data within the company's website. Employers will also be impressed by your diverse background in fields related to graphic design, which can directly contribute to their companies.

Tips and warnings

  • Feel free to be original and creative while designing your resume, but keep it crisp, clean and traditional. You can do this by highlighting your contact information at the top of the page and adding a simplistic bar line to separate your personal information from the resume details, or by placing a solid, colored bar to the left of your resume details for a unique visual effect.
