How to Install a Wireless Card Driver to BackTrack

The BackTrack Linux operating system is designed primarily for penetration testing purposes. Amongst its many tools are ones aimed at wireless network penetration testing, which requires a wireless card. If you want to install a wireless card into your BackTrack operating system, you'll need to install drivers. BackTrack makes this process a simple one that only requires a few commands to carry out while it does most of the hard work in the background.

    Log in to BackTrack and then click on the "Terminal" link on the Desktop to open a Terminal command prompt.

    Type "network -eth 1 start" into the window and press "Enter."

  3. 3

    Type "wif -eth 1 -reg activate" and press "Enter." Once the message "Success!" appears, your driver is installed and you can use your wireless card with BackTrack.
