Pinnacle Studio Plus is user-friendly video-editing software that allows you to edit pictures and videos professionally. Installing software like Pinnacle Studio isn't always an easy task. Any number of error messages can occur during or after set-up. The way to remove error messages in Pinnacle Studio depends on the type of error received.

Instructions

  1. 1

Restart the computer and try to install again. Sometimes conflicts arise in Windows that can be easily fixed with a restart.

  2. 2

Open the "Start" menu and enter "cmd.exe" into the search bar to open a command window. In the window, type "chkdsk /f" (no quotes) and type "Y" when prompted. Restart the computer and Checkdisk will check the drive for errors. Errors on the drive can prevent Pinnacle Studio from installing.

  3. 3

Open the "C:\Program Files\Pinnacle" folder. Delete the "Studio 12" or "Studio 14" folder. If you have a 64-bit operating system, the folder will be located in "C:\Program Files(x86)\Pinnacle."

  4. 4

Go to "C:\Program Files\Common Files" and delete the "InstallShield" folder. Restart the computer and attempt to reinstall.

  1. 1

Check the activation key and make sure it is the right length. It should contain five blocks of five letters. If it is the right length, check each letter to determine if it's been entered correctly.

  2. 2

Regenerate a new activation key by clicking "Help" > "My Passport" in Studio. Write down the passport number shown but do not write the serial number. The passport will contain 25 digits, all numbers.

  3. 3

Go to Pinnacle's Unlock Site (see Resources) to get a new key. Enter your e-mail address, passport and preferred language. The activation key will be e-mailed to the address entered. Use the same e-mail that was used to register the software or it will not work.

  1. 1

Install the bonus CD and re-enter your activation key if you receive this error in Studio 10 or 11. This error only occurs when attempting to unlock content that can't be found.

  2. 2

Verify that the feature you're trying to unlock is installed. For example, for the feature "Hollywood FX Volume," click the pull-down list in Studio and see if Hollywood FX Volume is there. If it's a plug-in you're trying to unlock, go to "Toolbox" > "Add Video Effects" to locate the plug-in. Reinstall the missing features using the installation disc.

  3. 3

Open the Pinnacle Studio Installer and click "Transfer Content." Use this wizard if you have upgraded to Studio 12 from an older version and are missing content.

  4. 4

Click "Next" and the wizard will begin transferring the features automatically.

Tips and warnings

  • Update your registration on the login page before going to the Unlock Site if your e-mail address is outdated (see Resources).
  • If the missing features are not already on your PC, download them from Pinnacle first before using the Content Transfer Wizard.
