How to string a basketball net

Putting up a new basketball hoop can be a good addition to a house, giving you an outlet for healthy family fun. Check the condition of your basketball hoop every few months and replace the hoop's net when it shows signs of wear. If you begin to see frayed nylon at the bottom of the hoop, it is time to install a new net. Hang the net properly to ensure many hours of fun and exercise.

Raise a ladder to reach the basketball hoop, if necessary. Cut the remaining pieces of the old net from the hoop if the hoop is still in place.

Hold the new net with the wide end at the top. Spread the wide end out so you can access each of the loops at the top of the net.

Connect the nylon loops of the net around the metal hooks staggered around the basketball hoop. There will be approximately 15 hooks around the metal hoop. Hook each loop around the rim one at a time, making sure each one is secure.

Pull the bottom portion of the net to open up the net and properly seat the upper nylon loops.
