How to Clean Anti Glare Glasses

Updated February 21, 2017

Anti-glare glasses are eyeglasses with a special anti-reflective coating placed on the lenses. The anti-reflective coating is designed to reduce eye strain caused by looking at computer screens or television screens for long amounts of time. Cleaning antiglare eyeglasses is different than cleaning regular eyeglasses. Many of the soaps or products used to clean eye glasses will etch the protective coating, or slowly eat away at it. Before you use any products, ensure they are safe to use on antiglare eyeglasses.

Dip a corner of a microfiber cloth in water. Rub the corner on the lenses and frame to remove dirt and grime.

Rub the dry portion lightly of the microfiber cloth into the frame and lenses to remove moisture and fingerprints.

Spray a small amount of a antiglare glasses cleaner solution on a microfiber cloth if additional cleaning is needed. Products safe for antiglare glasses should be labelled as such and must be alcohol- and ammonia-free.

Rub the microfiber cloth into the lenses and frames until they are free off all dirt, dust, grime and fingerprints.
