Tweeters are sold separate by many car speaker manufacturers to increase the treble response of factory systems. Additionally, placed high and to the far corners of a vehicle's dash, they can serve to greatly increase the perceived sound stage and ambience of recordings. Tweeter packages are sold with the drivers and a small crossover, essentially serving as a filter to protect the units from damaging low frequencies. The inclusion of these crossovers allows integration of the tweeters into nearly any factory or aftermarket car stereo system.

- Wire snips
- Crimp tool
- 16 gauge insulated butt connectors
- Speaker wire
- Double-sided tape
Flip over the tweeters, grille side down. Peel off a section of double-stick tape to cover the rear of the tweeter. Adhere one side of the tape to the rear of the speaker.
Stick the tweeters to the far corners of the dash, where the A-pillar meets the windshield. This placement widens the sound stage and prevents shifting of instrument location.
Route speaker wire from the radio or amplifier's speaker outputs. Connect the wire by cutting the speaker wire from the radio or amplifier leading to the front door speakers. Strip off a quarter-inch of wire insulation from both ends of the splice. Crimp a butt connector to the wire heading from the amp or radio. Twist the speaker wires leading to the front door speakers and the tweeters, inserting the twisted pair into the other end of the butt connector. Crimp this connection.
Strip a quarter-inch of insulation from the pigtail coming off the tweeters' crossovers, and from the wire leading to the tweeter from the radio or amp. Crimp these wires together with butt connectors.
Turn on the system, adjusting the jumpers on the crossovers to attenuate the tweeters relative to the rest of the system.
Tuck the wires and crossovers away in the best manner possible, given the individual vehicle.
