Resetting the ink cartridges is a common troubleshooting step for printers. If your documents are not printing correctly, or your HP PSC 2355 printer stops recognising the ink, you probably need to reset the cartridges. Perform this task before resorting to other costly or time-consuming alternatives, such as replacing the cartridges entirely or aligning the print heads. However, you must be careful to reset the cartridges properly to avoid damage to your PSC 2355.

Open the front access door on the printer to access the ink cartridges. It is located above the paper tray and locks into place once open.
The ink cartridges use a motor mechanism to automatically slide out on a tray from the right side of the device. Make sure the printer is plugged in. Do not try to force the cartridge tray out by hand. You might need to wait a few seconds for it to move.
Press down gently on the colour ink cartridge, which is on the left side of the tray. Pull it out toward you to remove it. Repeat this process for the black cartridge on the right.
Slide the colour cartridge back into the left side of the tray. Push it forward until you hear it click into position. Repeat for the black cartridge, this time using the right slot.
Make sure you put each cartridge back in the correct slot. The front of each cartridge has a label identifying the colour if you get the cartridges mixed up.
Close the printer access door. The ink cartridge tray will slide over to the right automatically once you close the printer. Do not attempt to move it over yourself.
Tips and warnings
- Do not touch the copper contacts on the bottom of the cartridges. This could damage the component and also get ink on your fingers.
