Bright felt flowers make a nice accessory for a dress, jacket or blouse on special occasions. Unlike their live counterparts, felt flowers will not die and with proper care can last forever. Spend an afternoon with a friend or two making and exchanging these wearable crafts or just give some as gifts. You will need only basic crafting skills to design, cut and assemble these colourful pins.

Fold a 6-inch-by-3-inch piece of felt in half, lengthwise. Use three straight pins to hold the felt in place, with one pin at each end of the felt and one in the middle.
Cut six evenly spaced slots in the felt with scissors. Cut into the fold but do not cut all the way to the edge.
Leave the felt folded and sew a basting stitch along the edge of the felt. Pull the thread to tighten the felt into a flower shape. Tie a knot in the end and cut away the excess thread.
Cut one 3-inch-wide circle from another colour of felt. This will be the centre of the flower.
Place a cotton ball in the centre of the circle. Make another basting stitch along the edge of the felt. Pull the thread tight to make a ball. Clip away the excess thread.
Cut four leaves from the felt. Use two contrasting green felts for a nice look.
Place the light-coloured leaf on top of the dark leaf. Sew the two together with the green thread.
Glue the felt circle into the centre of the flower, then glue the flower on top of the leaves. Glue the large pin to the base of the finished flower.
Add rhinestone embellishments by gluing them on to the puffed centre. Allow the glue to dry for a few minutes before wearing the pin.
