A Toshiba laptop that can no longer connect to a network or the Internet may have a problem with the wireless network adaptor. In most Toshiba laptops, the wireless adaptor is readily accessible from the bottom of the laptop. However, all Toshiba laptops are slightly different, so refer to the owner's manual for instructions before proceeding. This guide is structured around a Toshiba Satellite A35 model, but it will apply to most Toshiba laptops. Only the location of the wireless adaptor will change.

Disconnect the power cable from the laptop, as well as any peripherals like a monitor or printer that may be attached. Lay the laptop face down on a table and remove the battery. The battery usually is toward the back of the laptop base. Slide the locking switch to the unlocked position and pull the battery out.
Attach an electrostatic discharge strap to your wrist. Connect the other end to something metal to keep yourself grounded and minimise static electricity.
Locate and remove the wireless adaptor cover. The wireless adaptor cover typically is just to the side of the centre of the laptop base. On the A35 it is on the left side of the laptop base, next to the memory module cover. Remove the screws holding the wireless adaptor cover down and lift the cover off the laptop base. This reveals the adaptor.
Disconnect the antenna wires from the adaptor. There are two antenna wires running from the motherboard to the wireless adaptor. Grasp the connectors on the wires and gently unsnap them from the adaptor.
Spread the levers on each side of the wireless adaptor card. This will cause the wireless adaptor card to pop up. Grab the adaptor card on each side and gently slide it out of the slot.
Slide the new wireless adaptor into the adaptor slot. Slide it all the way in, then gently press down until the levers click into place.
Reconnect the antenna wires. On your adaptor each plug will be labelled. Connect the white wire to the plug labelled "Main" and the black wire to the plug labelled "Aux."
Replace the adaptor cover and battery and turn on the laptop.
