Getting published online can be tough, especially when thousands of writers are trying to do the same thing. If you’re a Christian writer, getting your article, essay, story or poem published online can be a lot easier if you focus on the Christian market. By narrowing your genre, you’ll compete against fewer writers also vying for publication. Getting published on a Christian website is a matter of developing solid story ideas, identifying websites that accept material from freelance writers and following each site’s query or submission guidelines carefully.

Send a query letter to the Christian website Kyria, which “encourages women to use their gifts, take responsibility for their spiritual formation and the discipleship of others, and fulfil the work God has called them to.” The website publishes biblical insight with a distinctly evangelical perspective on topics of faith. Kyria pays £32 to £97 per accepted piece and requests exclusive online rights.
Query Marriage Partnership, a sister publication of Kyria, which publishes articles on marriage from a Christian point of view. Upon article acceptance, writers receive five to 10 cents per printed word. Marriage Partnership requests exclusive online rights, but allows contributors to reprint articles on their own websites.
Pitch Ministries Today prints articles of fewer than 700 words on Christian ministry life, ministry leadership, ministry outreach and ministry facilities. If your article doesn’t fit into one of these topics, the editors will still consider it, but you might have to sell your story a bit more than usual. After your query is approved, Ministries Today will discuss payment. The site buys all rights to articles, unless different terms are negotiated in advance.
Apply to be a columnist for Hem of His Garment Bible Study, a Christian website that publishes articles on ways to apply biblical teachings to everyday life. Contributors choose their own topics and write one or more biblically based article each month. Although the site does not pay, you can use your article to help promote your book, website or blog by including links in your personal bio.
Post your articles, essays, stories and poems for free on Faith Writers, a community website for Christian authors. Gain exposure for your writing, interact with other Christian writers, take one of 14 different online interactive writing courses and learn about freelance writing jobs and contests.
