Gift bags are commonly used to package small gifts, as they require less time and effort than wrapping paper. Gift bags are also convenient for packaging obscurely shaped objects. A sturdy brown-paper bag can easily be decorated and transformed into a one-of-a-kind gift bag for small gifts. Creating your own gift bag using a brown-paper bag is simple and can be done using basic craft and scrapbook supplies.

Instructions

  1. 1

Measure and cut two pieces of printed scrapbook paper that are equal in size to the front of the brown paper bag. Glue one piece of scrapbook paper to the front of the bag and the other to the back of the bag.

  2. 2

Measure and cut two pieces of printed scrapbook paper that are equal in size to the sides of the brown paper bag. Glue one piece of paper to each side of the bag.

  3. 3

Cut a 2-foot long strip of curling ribbon. Open the scissors and carefully pull the ribbon taut across the scissors to curl the ribbon. Tape the curled ribbon around one of the handles of the bag.

  4. 4

Add embellishments to the bag. These could include stickers, rhinestones, paper flowers or any other three-dimensional embellishment found in craft stores. Silk flowers can be used to add an elegant, feminine touch to the bag. You may choose to decorate only the front of the bag or both the front and back. Do not add any embellishments to the sides, as they will be damaged when the bag is folded.
