How to Make a Genie Lamp

Updated February 21, 2017

Make a "magical" genie lamp for your next game of dress-up with your daughter, as a prop for a play or just to use as a decoration for your room. It's actually easy to create a golden lamp that looks like a genie could pop out of it, using an old teapot, some gold paint and a few gems for sparkle effect.

Sand your old teapot with fine grit sandpaper to scuff it up and allow paint to hold to the surface better.

Apply gold paint to the entire outside surface of the teapot with a paintbrush. Allow the paint to dry according to package instructions.

Plug in your hot glue gun and wait for it to heat up to medium.

Place dots of hot glue wherever you want to place your jewels.

Press the jewels into the dots of glue. Allow the glue to cool before bumping or rubbing against the jewels.

Things You'll Need
