Beach tents are compact and convenient. Who doesn't appreciate extra space in the trunk when you're going to the beach? You can bring surfboards and more people with you instead of huge tents and beach umbrellas. At the end of the day, though, you may find that folding the tent into its original compact form is not as easy as the packaging makes it seem to be. It takes a bit of practice and patience, but anyone can master the skills of beach tent folding.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Lift up the tent, holding the base of one of the two sides of the tent. Roll the tent over it until it lies on its side with the tent floor facing you.

  2. 2

Use both hands to push the base of the tent side that is now on top to meet the base of the side on the ground. While doing this, use your legs to tuck the floor of the tent between the two sides. The tent should now be flat on the ground, with some tent material sticking out at the sides.

  3. 3

Step on the tent so it doesn't spring back up and use your hands to tuck in any material that is still sticking out.

  4. 4

Walk slowly off the tent, pulling the top of the tent with you to meet the base of the tent. Hold the wires of the top and base of the tent together with both hands.

  5. 5

Turn the tent so one of the two sides of the tent is now on the ground. Push the wire of the other side of the tent down and in, then fold following the natural bend of the wire, until the tent is flat with the wires in a hoop shape. There, you've just folded the beach tent.
