How to Check a Post Office Account Online

The United States Post Office website offers many options for mailing letters and shipping packages for both personal and business applications. Once you set up an online account, you may check the status of your shipments, pay for a post office box, purchase stamps and shipping supplies, and pay for and print shipping labels for packages. USPS accounts store historical shipping data for up to six months so that you can retrieve data and check your account status.

Open an Internet browser on your computer and go to the website. Before you are able to check your account, you must create a user profile.

Click on "Sign In" in upper right corner of the website, which will take you to a new page where you can choose "New Users" and then "Sign Up" to begin creating a user profile.

Fill out the form to create a username and password, then click "Continue." On the following page you will select a personal or business account, then choose "Continue" to proceed to the contact information section of the form.

Complete the contact information, then click "Continue," which will take you to a final page where you will fill in your personal or business information, including name, address, e-mail, phone, and fax. After you fill in the form, click to continue, which will then allow you to review, edit and verify the data.

Return to the USPS website home page after your user profile is complete. After you sign in, the website will direct you to a page titled "Your Options." At the options page you will find many choices, including the chance to review your PO Box status and make a payment, purchase stamps and supplies, file an insurance claim, print a shipping label, request a carrier pickup and complete customs forms for international shipments. Each option has a hyperlink to follow. To track a package, check your shipping history and review online payments, follow the "Click-n-Ship" hyperlink. You can also check the status of any aspect of your account by clicking the "My Account" link in the upper right corner of the Click-n-Ship page.
