How to Restore the Waste Bin

The icon of a waste bin on your Windows desktop is tied to a utility called the "Recycle Bin." When you delete a file from your hard drive, it gets placed in this Recycle Bin for storage until it gets automatically (and permanently) removed at a later date. If this waste bin icon has disappeared from your Windows desktop, you can restore it at any time using the Windows desktop management utility.

    Click "Start."

    Click "Control Panel."

    Click "Personalization."

    Click "Change Desktop Icons."

    Check the box next to "Recycle Bin" and then click "OK" to return the waste bin icon to your Windows desktop where it belongs.
