If you want to create a personal budget to keep track of your expenses, you can create a budget in Microsoft Excel by downloading a template. There are numerous personal budget templates to choose from in Excel. Not only will downloading a personal budget template save you time from creating one, you can also find something more decorative than what you might create on your own.

    Open Excel and click the Office button. When the Office menu opens, click "New." You can create a new workbook or search for a template here.

    Look to the template menu to the left of the window. Click "Budgets" under "Microsoft Office Online." A list of budget templates will open.

    Select a personal budget template to download.

    Click "Download" after you select a personal budget template. The budget template will open in a new window.

    Edit the personal budget template to reflect your financial information. Make sure you include your income and all of the expenses you can think of in your budget. When you have finished editing your budget, save your work.
