Adobe Flash (FLA) files are source files created and edited in the Adobe Flash multimedia authoring suite. Adobe After Effects is a video encoding utility included in the Flash suite that enhances and extends video functionality of Adobe Flash. FLV files are Flash-compatible video files. When working with video files in Flash, video file types such as AVI, MOV and 3GP must first be converted to the FLV file type to operate properly inside a compiled Shockwave Flash object (SWF). To convert an FLA file into an FLV file, open the source file in the Adobe After Effects application and export the presentation to the FLV file type.
