AOC provides LCD monitors with a sleek form factor to consumers looking for a PC computer display, but unfortunately problems can crop up that can impair the operation of these devices. It can be tempting to ship your PC AOC monitor off to a repairman, but you can save money and handle the repairs yourself even if you have no prior experience with working with AOC monitors. With more than one computer machine to test the display on and a Phillips-head screwdriver to access its inner parts, you can handle the repairs yourself.

Check the VGA cable that runs from the PC AOC monitor to your actual computer. Make sure the VGA cable has not become disconnected from the VGA port either from the back of the monitor or from the back of the computer.
Turn up your monitor brightness settings. If your display appears dark, it could just be a low brightness setting. Additionally, it is possible that the brightness was turned all the way down. This would result in a completely dark PC AOC monitor that appears to be malfunctioning. You can adjust the brightness settings via the dedicated monitor brightness keys on the AOC display, or via the brightness keys on the top row of your computer's keyboard.
Power down the computer and PC AOC monitor. Disconnect the VGA cable from the current computer in use and connect it to another computer entirely.
Power on the computer and monitor and watch the results. If your PC AOC monitor starts to work again, this is an indication that your monitor is fine but your computer is suffering from a video subsystem/motherboard failure, which will likely necessitate a complete replacement of your computer tower due to the cost associated with motherboard replacement.
Open up your PC AOC monitor if it still does not work with another computer. Power down and disconnect the display, then remove the screws around the monitor's bezel. Note that depending on your exact AOC model, plastic caps may be in place that seal over the screws for aesthetic design. Simply pop these off and then remove the screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
Remove the now loosened bezel.
Reconnect the inverter cable, which may have become disconnected or loose from the display, resulting in the backlight failing. The inverter cable connects to the inverter cable connector on the inverter board. This board is found running along the bottom of the bezel-less PC AOC monitor. Reconnect the cable to the connector and lock the connector into place by snapping it down into a horizontal position.
