How to Burn an Encrypted DVD With Nero 7

Updated February 21, 2017

Nero Burning ROM is a desktop publishing software suite that provides tools for audio and video manipulation and optical disc creation. Nero lets you create encrypted DVDs using the checkpoint plug-in. Encrypted DVDs add a level of copy protection that prevents PCs from copying data directly from a disk onto a hard drive in a usable format. Encrypting a DVD in Nero adds only a few steps to the overall desktop publishing process.

Insert a recordable DVD into the optical recording drive.

Launch Nero from its installed location.

Select "CD/DVD (Check Point)" in the new compilation selection window.

Navigate to the files you wish to burn to DVD, using the provided navigation dialogue box.

Click the "Burn" button located in the lower right corner of the Nero Burning ROM program window.

Enter an encryption password into the "Checkpoint Media Encryption" dialogue box that appears. This string password will be used to create the encryption for the disc. This also begins the burn process of the DVD. A progress bar appears to let you monitor the status of your project.
