Printing photos and photocopies on fabric is a wonderful way to create memory quilts or decorate totebags, clothing and accessories with favourite images. Printable fabric is available in many textures, from rougher fabric to very smooth. Colorwise, it is available in white, for a sharp image, and off-white, for a more antique appearance. Photocopies printed on fabric can be made colour-fast, ensuring years of use for the items you've decorated.

Verify that you can legally reproduce the image that you wish to photocopy and print on fabric, if it is not an image that you created yourself.

Scan the photocopy at a high resolution, at least 300 dpi (dots per inch) for the most accurate, sharpest image reproduction. Save the image to your computer, and edit if desired.

Load the printable fabric into your printer, following the directions on the fabric package. Most printable fabric has a plastic or paper backing which will be removed once the printing process is complete. Ensure that the fabric is loaded with the correct orientation for your printer, so that the printing will be on the fabric, rather than the backing.

Print the photocopy image on the fabric, just as you normally would print an image on paper.

Remove the backing from the fabric. Most brands of printable fabric require additional processing to make the printed image colour-fast, such as soaking in water or ironing. Follow the instructions on the printable fabric package for post-printing treatment.
