The Hitachi Hybrid video camera is a device that provides recording capabilities on both a hard drive or a miniDVD. This allows you to switch recording formats, depending on what is easiest at the time. This is also helpful for when the hard drive is full, as you may continue recording onto miniDVDs instead of stopping the recording and possibly missing important footage. Outside of the multiple recording options, the Hitachi Hybrid video cameras function similar to most other hand-held, consumer video cameras.

Things you need
Power on the Hitachi Hybrid by pressing the "Power" button at the top of the video camera. Make sure to remove the lens cap on the front of the device.
Select either "Hard drive" or "miniDVD" as the record mode on the side of the Hitachi video camera. This tells the hybrid device which recording method you are using.
Press "Eject" on the side of the miniDVD case. The lid opens, exposing the interior of the video camera. Place the miniDVD into the opening and close the case. Momentarily the video camera reads the miniDVD and is set to record.
Press "Record" and the footage begins to record into either the hard drive or the miniDVD. Press "Record" again to stop the video recording.
Push down on the "Zoom" option to move in on the subject you're recording. If you want to move out from the subject, press back on the "Zoom" button.
Connect to a computer to import data from the hard drive of the camera by inserting the provided USB data cable into the USB port on the device. Plug the other end of the cable into a USB port on the computer. If importing data from the miniDVD disc, press the "Eject" button on the disc, remove the DVD from the Hitachi Hybrid video camera and insert it into the DVD drive on your computer.
