The Honda Super Blackbird, model number CBR1100XX, began production in 1996 and ended in 2007. The Super Blackbird features a 1,137cc, four cylinder engine and a wheelbase of 1,490mm. High performance brake pads are featured on both the front and rear wheels. These brake pads should be changed every fifteen thousand miles or when they are worn to the wear mark on the caliper. Expect the replacement process to take fifteen minutes for each wheel.

Remove the two 12mm bolts securing the caliper to the front wheel with your socket wrench and ratchet. Pull the caliper off of the rotor.

Remove the 5mm brake pad pin from the caliper with your Allen key. The brake pads should fall out when the pin is removed. Pull them out with your hand if they do not.

Insert the replacement inboard and outboard brake pads into the caliper in the same position the previous brake pads were set in. Reinstall the brake pad pin.

  • Remove the 5mm brake pad pin from the caliper with your Allen key.
  • Reinstall the brake pad pin.

Reseat the caliper on the front wheel. Reinstall the two bolts you removed earlier.

Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the rear wheel.
