Having rust on your steam iron can be hazardous for your clothes; it can leave disgusting brown blotches on your clothes and ruin them. Save your clothes by cleaning the rust from your steam iron. You need two ingredients for the mixture, and they are probably items that you have in your house already.

  • Vinegar
  • Water
  • Old towel

Instructions

    Mix equal parts vinegar and water together. Pour the mixture into your steam cleaner.

    Put the iron on the steam setting.

  3. 3

    Place an old towel on your ironing board. Steam the towel. You'll see the brown build-up start to come out of the holes of the iron. Once the mixture is gone, wipe down the towel.

    Pour plain water into the iron. Put the iron on the steam setting.

  5. 5

    Steam over the towel again to get the vinegar and water mixture residue out of the iron.
