Musty smells at home are usually caused by mildew, which thrives in damp environments. Bathrooms are a popular place, for example. Clean mildew and reduce or eliminate the damp environment, if possible. You can reduce and remove the musty smell from your carpet using all-natural and relatively inexpensive ingredients. Several remedies will help remove your carpet's musty smell.

  • White vinegar
  • Bowl
  • 10 drops of lavender
  • 10 drops of rosemary
  • Spray bottle
  • Vacuum

    Pour white vinegar into a bowl and set the bowl in the room with the musty smell. White vinegar can remove the odour within 24 hours. Keep the musty smell away by replacing the vinegar once a day.

    Mix 1 cup of white vinegar, 3 cups of warm water and 20 drops of the essential oils into a spray bottle.

    Mist the carpet daily with the solution.

    Vacuum the carpet twice a week after allowing 10 minutes for the solution to dry.
