Free, public Wi-Fi (wireless internet) is becoming available in more and more places. Ten years ago, the only place you may have been able to find a public Wi-Fi connection would have been an internet cafe, if you were lucky enough to have one in your area. Today, Wi-Fi is available at coffee shops, libraries and even restaurants. You can find free Wi-Fi hot spot maps on the internet that will allow you to see where the connection is closest to your house.
Visit WiFinder (see References). Simply type an address into the address bar on the main WiFinder page then choose your search radius from the drop down menu. Clicking on the "Find!" button will display a map of all of the free public Wi-Fi hotspots that the computer algorithm found within the area that you specified.
Use Wi-Fi Free Spot (see References). Wi-Fi Free Spot lets you choose your state and will then display a map of all of the free Wi-Fi hotspots within that state based on county. You can see exact addresses and even telephone numbers of the free Wi-Fi hotspots so that you will always know how to get to one no matter where it is you happen to currently be.
Use Wi-Fi ZONE Finder (see References). Wi-Fi ZONE Finder allows you to search based on a specific address, a city, a county or even an entire country for free Wi-Fi spots. Clicking on the "Go!" button will display a map of all of the free public Wi-Fi hotspots that the computer algorithm found within the area that you specified.
