Push button switches are used in myriad devices to control various functions or power. Push button switches can be found on computers, electronics and appliances just to name a few. The push button switch has two terminals or connectors extending out the back that are triggered to form a connection when the button is pushed. The button then returns to its extended form by an internal spring. Using a soldering iron to solder and form an electrical connection from the wires to the switch is the best way to complete the wiring.
Set the push button switch face down so that the connecting terminals on the back are sticking up in the air.
Cut two pieces of wire from the roll to the desired length. Strip about 1/4 inch of insulation off one end on each wire. Bend a 3/4 loop in the end of each stripped end of the wires.
Plug the soldering iron in and allow it to heat up for several minutes.
Insert each looped end of the wire through the tiny hole at the end of the two terminals on the switch. Use the needle-nose pliers to press the loop together to help hold the wire steady and in place as it is soldered together.
Touch the solder to the tip of the iron and to one of the terminals where the wire is looped through. Apply enough solder to cover both sides of the terminal and wire connection. Repeat this step to solder the remaining wire in place to the other switch terminal. Allow the solder to cool to room temperature for a couple of minutes. Unplug the soldering iron.
It is helpful to remember that the wires can be connected to either terminal on the switch in any order and not affect the functionality of the switch.
Avoid contact of the soldering iron to the skin or fingers as this could result in severe burns.
