Cigarette smoke lingers on anything it touches, including clothing, skin and hair. In short time, the scent of cigarettes can feel overwhelming, especially if you do not smoke and have simply been exposed to it second-hand. In order to really get rid of the smell of smoke instead of masking it, you must clean yourself the right way instead of simply spraying yourself with perfume or cologne.
Sprinkle a damp cloth with baking soda. Rub the cloth all over your body while you're in the shower, paying special attention to your hands if you're a smoker.
Lather and wash yourself with a deodorising soap.
Shampoo your hair, as hair traps a lot of smoke odour. Shampoo your hair a second time if the cigarette-smoke smell is heavy.
Brush your teeth and use mouthwash after you get out of the shower.
If you don't have time to change and shower, spray a fabric freshener on your clothes to quickly subdue cigarette odour. Clean smoke smell quickly off of your hands by using fresh-scented baby wipes. If you prefer a bath rather than a shower, add 1/2 cup baking soda to your bath water.
