How to Tile Print in Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is a graphics-editing application that comes with the Adobe Creative Suite software package. When you create a large image in Illustrator you can print the images so it fits your printer’s available page sizes by using the Tile option. Tiling is useful if you want to print out sections of a larger image to create a poster or flyer. After setting up the tiling print options you can also choose to overlap any of the tiles or change any other printer settings.

    Open the Adobe Illustrator application on your computer. Click on the “File” option and then click on the “Open” option.

    Locate the Illustrator file that contains the image that you want to print tiling for. Select the file so it’s highlighted and then click on the “Open” button.

    Click on the “View” option from the top toolbar menu and then click on the “Show Print Tiling” option to view how your artboard, or image, will look when it’s printed.

    Click on the “File” option from the top toolbar menu and then click on the “Print” option. Click on the “Tile” option.

    Click on the “Ignore Multiple Artboard” option if you have multiple artboards in your document and then click on the “Fit To Page” option.

    Click on the “Full Pages” option so that your artboard is printed out in multiple pages that can then be lined up to form one larger image. Click on the “Print” button to begin printing each page.
