How to Convert a JPEG to PES

Updated April 17, 2017

JPEG is a popular file extension used for digital images. PES is a file extension created for the Brother/Babylock/Bernina Home Embroidery Format, which was created by Buzz Tools Plus. Basically, PES is a file used for home embroidery designs created with software produced by Buzz Tools. Converting a JPEG to a PES file can only be accomplished if the JPEG file was previously created by the Buzz Tools Plus program, meaning that it is a PES file that was converted to a JPEG.

Find the JPEG file on your computer. Right-click the "Tools" menu on the top of the folder.

Choose the "Folder Options" from the "Tools" menu. Click on the "View" tab then uncheck the box next to "Hide extensions for known file types." Click "Apply" and "OK" to save the changes and close the Folder Options window.

Right-click the JPEG file in the window and select the "Rename" option (you will see ".jpeg" or ".jpg" behind the file name now). Erase the ".jpeg" part and type ".pes" in its place. You will receive a warning telling you that this can change the way that the file is opened. Click "OK" in the warning window to finalise the process.
