Instructions

  1. 1

Download and install Joy2Key (See References).

  2. 2

Connect your PS2 controller and launch Joy2Key.

  3. 3

Double-click the "Button 1" field and click the "Mouse" button. Check the "Left Button" box and click "OK." Do the same thing for the "Button 2" field, but instead check the "Right Button" box.

  4. 4

Click the "Others" tab on the Joy2Key window and check the "Use Axes other than X and Y" and "Use POV switches" boxes. The face buttons on your controller should now control left- and right-clicking.

  5. 5

Click the "Joysticks" tab, and double click on the "AxisX(<0)" item in the list. Click the "Mouse" button and move the horizontal scroll bar under "Cursor Movements" all the way to the left and click "OK."

  6. 6

Double-click on the "AxisX(>0)" item in the "Joysticks" tab. Move the horizontal scroll bar next to "Cursor Movements" all the way to the right and click "OK."

  7. 7

Double-click on the "AxisY(<0)" item in the "Joysticks" tab. Move the vertical scroll bar next to "Cursor Movements" all the way to the top and click "OK."

  8. 8

Double-click on the "AxisY(>0)" item in the "Joysticks" tab. Move the vertical scroll bar next to "Cursor Movements" all the way to the bottom and click "OK."

  9. 9

The joystick on your PS2 controller should now control mouse movement. If the directions are reversed, then you need to invert the position of the scroll bars in each setting. For the controller to continue functioning as a mouse, you'll need to leave the Joy2Key program running.

Tips and warnings

  • You can adjust the sensitivity of the mouse movement by changing the horizontal and vertical scroll bars in the "Mouse" tab.
