Chart label formatting is simple in Crystal Reports. Once a chart is rendered on the report, dialogue boxes allow for the adjustment of font, colour, size, border and rotation of all label text for the specified axis. Additional formatting can manipulate the suppression, position, staggering, skipping scaling and order of label values.

Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Determine if x-axis formatting is required for a specific instance of a chart or for every chart on the report. If for a specific instance, view chart in preview mode, or else go to design mode.

  2. 2

Navigate to the formatting dialogues by left clicking any x-axis label then right clicking to pop-up the axis options.

  3. 3

Select "Format Axis Label" to manipulate the font, colour, size, frame (optional border) and rotation of x-axis text via drop down boxes. A preview of changes will show before committing by selecting OK.

  4. 4

Repeat Step 2 and select "Group (X) Axis Settings" to find additional formatting options for label suppression, position, staggering, skipping, scaling and order.

Tips and warnings

  • Any formatting change made to one label value applies to all values.
  • In preview mode only, repeating Step 2 offers the "Edit Axis Label" option. From here label values coming from your data source can be directly edited and applied to that chart instance.
