The Archos 605 with Wi-Fi combines the features of a portable television and a tablet PC. The rechargeable battery should last at least a couple of years. However, it will eventually drain to the point where it will no longer hold a charge. When this happens, you'll need to replace the battery. Fortunately, the battery in the Archos 605 is user-replaceable. It's not necessary to send the unit to a professional to replace the battery.

Purchase a replacement battery. Archos does not recommend replacing the 605's battery with an aftermarket substitute. To order a battery directly from Archos, see the Resource section.
Press and hold "Power" until the Archos 605 shuts off. Hold the unit with the screen facing down.
Depress the small button on the bottom end. This releases the rear battery cover. Lift the old battery from the system.
Position the new battery in the compartment. Line up the front contacts with the terminals in the compartment. Push the cover down to close it.
