You can make free, personalised crossword puzzles online to suit any occasion. You could fill a puzzle with inside jokes to give to family and friends, or design a crossword puzzle study aid for your students, filled with vocabulary words or key terms that correspond with a particular school lesson. Once you've made the puzzle online, you can print it out and make as many copies as you wish.
Go to an online crossword puzzle generator (see Resources). You can find puzzle generators at the "PuzzleMaker" section of the Discovery Education website, the "Printable Worksheets" section of the Walden College Teachers Corner website or at the "Crossword Puzzle Maker" section of the Armored Penguin website.
Enter a title for your puzzle and an author name if applicable.
Select a number of squares for the puzzle's width and height.
Select the size and colour you want for the puzzle's squares if multiple options are available.
Enter your puzzle's answer words and clues into the form.
Click "Create Puzzle" or "Make Puzzle." Allow several minutes for the site to process your request.
Print the puzzle on plain or coloured paper and then make additional photocopies if necessary.
Compose your puzzle's clues and answer words in a word processor and then copy and paste them into the puzzle generator form. This way, your work will be saved even if an error occurs with your Internet connection as you enter the information into the form.
