How to Calculate Distance Between Two Postcodes

Updated March 23, 2017

Postcodes do not have any inherent value of distance, so there is no mathematical formula to calculate the distance between two Postcodes. However, you can calculate this distance by using free online mapping resources that will provide a more accurate calculation than one by hand.

Enter the first Postcode under "ZIP Code" and click "Get Map."

Enter the second Postcode under "Address, City, or ZIP" and click "Get Directions."

Go to the bottom of the page, where the site displays the statistics for the trip, and read the total miles.

Enter the first Postcode under "A."

Enter the second Postcode under "B"

Click "Go."

Read the trip statistics, including total mileage, on the left column of the page.

Enter the first Postcode in the search bar and click "Search Map."

Click "Directions" on the left side of the page.

Enter the second Postcode and click "Get Directions."

Read the trip statistics, including total mileage, on the left column of the page.
