Although you can view and print PDF files with Adobe Reader, you can only create, manage and manipulate PDF files if you have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer. You might want to change a PDF to black and white for aesthetic reasons or if you're working in an environment -- such as some newspaper organisations -- that only accepts black and white documents.
