If your Power Mac G4 did not come with an Apple-branded built-in Airport or Airport Extreme wireless card, it is easy to add wireless capabilities to your system. Apple's proprietary Airport and Airport Extreme cards are typically an attractive option because their antennas are integrated into the computer's case. This can, in some cases, improve wireless reception. If your Power Mac G4 is from the original PCI-based generation, you will have to use a PCI or USB option, because these are the only Power Mac G4 models that do not include Airport support. The final generation of Power Mac G4 systems can only accept Airport Extreme (802.11n) wireless networking cards.
