The EEPROM (electrically erasable programmable read-only memory) chip on your HP computer is where the system’s BIOS files are stored. Resetting this chip back to factory defaults can be necessary when changes to the files have resulted in your HP computer becoming unstable or unbootable. This can be done with the factory default setting within the BIOS.
