Making a simple doll only requires a small amount of fabric and basic sewing skills. To turn a plain doll into an angel doll, add details like a white robe and a halo made out of a gold pipe cleaner. This angel doll could be made into a Christmas tree ornament.

- Fabric pen
- White thread
- Cotton batting
- Red acrylic paint
- Black acrylic paint
- White thin cotton or linen
- Gold pipe cleaners
Fold cotton or linen material in half. Draw a simple human figure with fabric pen. Cut out, creating two of the human-shaped pieces of cloth at once.
Sew the cut pieces of fabric together using a simple backstitch. Leave at least an inch open along one side of the doll's body. Turn the sewn together pieces inside-out to hide the stitching.
Stuff the doll with cotton batting through the hole in the side, distributing evenly. Sew up the open side to complete the doll body.
Add details to the doll's face by painting on black dots for eyes, a curved triangle for a nose and a small red mouth. Paint the top and sides of the head to give the doll black hair.
Cut a rectangle of white thin cotton or linen that is as wide as the doll and twice its height. Fold in half to be as tall as the doll, and cut a half circle from the folded side of fabric wide enough to put on over the doll's head.
Put the doll's head through the hole in the fabric to make the fabric look like a white robe. Wrap white thread around the robe at the doll's waist and tie in the back to hold in place.
Wrap a gold pipe cleaner into a circle around itself to form a halo the appropriate circumference for resting atop the doll's head. Place on the doll's head, and sew into place at several points around the circle, bringing the thread from outside the pipe cleaner to just inside the pipe cleaner, down through the fabric, and up again on the outside of the pipe cleaner in a circular motion.
Twist three pipe cleaners together in the middle and arrange the ends so that it looks like the letter "X" with an extra horizontal line in the middle to represent wings. Sew the wings onto the angel doll in the same fashion as the halo, attaching at one point on the back of the doll and sewing through the robe and doll body.
